OVERVIEW
- We will pick you up at the airport, your hotel, or Lombok port and drive you to Senaru village.
- Check-in at your accommodation will be followed by a briefing about the trekking procedure.
- If you arrive in Senaru three hours before sunset, you can visit the Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls.
- Day 1: Start trekking from Sembalun village and camp at Sembalun crater rim.
- Day 2: Walk to the summit, descend to the lake, and camp at the lake for the second night.
- Day 3: Walk down to the finish point, Torean village.
ITINERARY
Day 01: Trek to Sembalun Crater Rim (walk 7 hours)
- 06:30 – Breakfast 07:00 – Drive to Sembalun village for 45 minutes 07:45 – Register at the Rinjani National Park office, then drive again to the starting point (about 15 minutes).
- 08:00 – Start the trek from Sembalun starting point (1100m) to Pos 1 (1300m), rest for 10 minutes for some biscuits, walking time is about 2 hours.
- 10:00 – Pos 1, then continue to Pos 2 (1500m), walking time about one and a half hours. Upon arrival at Pos 2, our team will prepare your lunch.
- 13:00 – Pos 2, continue our journey to Pos 3 (1800m), walking time is approximately 1 hour. The trail to Pos 3 is flat and easy.
- 14:00 – Pos 3, after a 10/15 minutes rest, we will continue to Pos 4 or Pos Extra (about 60 minutes) and then rest again.
- 15:00 – Pos 4 or Pos Extra heading to Sembalun crater rim (2639m), walking time 2 hours up.
- By 5 pm, you’ll reach Sembalun crater rim, where our team will prepare your camp for the first night and dinner.
- Enjoy the awesome views of the summit of Mount Rinjani and the sunset.
Day 02: Trek up to summit, lake, and Otak Gawan (walk 9 hours)
- 02:30 – Wake up and have a light breakfast with tea or coffee 03:00 – Start the trek to the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726m), walking time approximately 3 hours.
- Arrive at 06:00, with the sunrise at 6:10 am.
- From the summit, you can see all of Lombok island, Mount Agung in Bali, Sumbawa island, and the crater lake.
- After sunrise, spend 20 minutes going down to the Sembalun crater rim (about 2 hours) for a hot breakfast and break.
- 09:30 – Descend to the crater lake and hot spring.
- This trail is steep and slippery, so be cautious.
- It takes 2.30 hours to reach the lake and hot spring. Lunch will be provided by the lake, and the hot spring is just a 15-minute walk from here.
- This is a healing place for your skin. 14:00 – After lunch and sufficient rest, continue to Otak Gawah for the second night’s camp.
Day 03: Walk down to Torean village (5 hours)
- After breakfast, continue walking down to the finish point.
- The route offers beautiful views, including waterfalls.
- Our team will prepare your lunch on the way before finishing your trek.
- We will finish around 12:30 pm, and our driver will be waiting at the finish point to drive you to our office.
- After that, we will transfer you to your next destination.
nOTE
- If you book your trekking package with Salvin Trekking, you will be provided with an English-speaking local mountain guide and local porters who will carry the trekking equipment and cooking gear.
- However, our mountain guide and porters are only responsible for carrying trekking equipment, including tents, sleeping bags, mats, pillows, chairs, tables, toilet tents, and cooking gear.
- They are not tasked with carrying your personal belongings.
- If you require an extra porter to carry your personal belongings, they are available at an additional cost of 25 USD per porter per day.
- You can store other luggage at our office and retrieve it after the trek is completed.
What is the Temperature Like in the Mountains?
- During the day, temperatures range from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius at and below the rims at night.
- The temperature at the Rim is usually below 10 degrees Celsius. At times, it can be near freezing, especially towards the summit of Rinjani.
