ITINERARY
Day 1: Senaru Village (601m) – Senaru Campsite (2641m)
- Wake up at 6:00 and enjoy a hot breakfast at 6:30 am. At 7:20 am, our mountain car will pick you up for registration at the Mount Rinjani National Park Centre, pos 1 Senaru village (601m).
- The trekking tour begins at 7:30-8:00 am in the cool morning. The first 30 minutes offer open views and green plants such as coffee trees, bamboo, and others belonging to the local people of Senaru.
- As we walk for 30 minutes, we reach the gate of the tropical rainforest. Take a short break for 10-15 minutes, then continue the trek through the jungle, where the shade protects us from the sun.
- Along the way, we’ll encounter large trees and hear the sounds of black/brown monkeys. After approximately three hours of walking, we reach pos 2 (1500m), also known as pos MONTONG SATAS. Here, we can take a break, lay down to recover energy, and enjoy soft drinks, crackers, and fresh fruits like bananas and pineapples served by our guide and porters.
- Now it’s time to continue! We are still in the heart of the tropical rainforest, and reaching pos 3 will take approximately 2 more hours.
- During this journey, we may come across local strawberries growing along the way (June, July, August are the seasons).
- After passing pos 2, we arrive at pos 3 (2000m), called MONDOKAN LOKAK, where our porter and guide prepare lunch.
- Here, fresh fruits and biscuit snacks will be served. Beware of the brown monkeys living in this area; they may try to steal your small backpack, so ensure it’s not left unattended. After a 1.5-hour rest, we continue to Crater Rim (2641m).
- The first 25 minutes take us past Mondokan Lokak, out of the tropical rainforest, and onto the savanna hills with open views.
- Although the trail is quite steep, the beautiful scenery of Senaru village and a break called CEMARA LIMA make it worthwhile.
- Further on, after about one hour, we reach Pelawangan 1 Senaru Crater Rim (2641m), where we camp and spend the night with our own dinner.
- The trail is stony and quite steep, providing a spectacular view from Senaru Rim, including a sunset over the 3 Gilis and Mount Agung in Bali, sunrise next to the valley of Mt. Sanggka Reyang, smoke rising from the new volcano in the middle of Lake Segara Anak, and the peak of Rinjani mountain (3726m).
- It promises to be the best sleep under the Milky Way.
Day 2: Senaru Campsite (2641m) – Senaru Village (601m)
- After breakfast and enjoying the sunrise, and capturing the beautiful scenery of the lake, we will descend to Senaru village.
- The descent will take approximately 4-5 hours, including breaks and lunch at either pos1 or pos extra.
- We expect to arrive at Senaru Rinjani Trekking Centre around 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
- Please collect your own luggage, and our private car will transport you to your next destination, such as the Gili Islands, Senggigi, Mataram, or Lombok International Airport, based on your preferences.
